Head of Partnerships

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven Head of Partnerships to join us at an exciting stage of our development. The role will work closely with the founders and lead on creating opportunities to build and maintain Oxford Ionic’s growing network of stakeholders, including other quantum companies and start-ups, existing and potential supply chain partners, government bodies and more.


Your responsibilities will evolve as the company expands. The initial scope will include:

  • Being the first point of contact for new partnership opportunities, engaging to ascertain potential opportunities;

  • Proactively identifying and creating networking opportunities;

  • Managing day-to-day interaction with partners and being the interface between stakeholders, the technical team and founders;

  • Retaining and building valuable relationships and revenue where possible;

  • Working with the founders to build the future commercial partnerships section of the company and identify strategic pathways for network growth; 

  • Leading Oxford Ionics at any business development related functions or conferences; and

  • Full management of grant partnerships including general communications, grant reports and regular progress updates with grant monitoring officers.

You might be a great fit for this position if...

  • You come from a scientific or technical background (e.g. a PhD in a physical science) before moving into a commercial environment in an outwards facing role such as technical sales/sales support;

  • You will be able to understand and share Oxford Ionics work with partners and know the right points to bring in your peers on the Science and Engineering teams; 

  • You have a range of soft skills including being a powerful communicator and working effectively with others; 

  • You are able to convey the Oxford Ionics brand, message and purpose in a way which presents us in a positive light and generates engagement; and 

  • You are proactive, able to build valuable relationships and take the initiative to spot and nurture opportunities.
